Many people like to do their taxes themselves. For years, I prepared my own taxes. However, my taxes have become rather complex, with multiple forms to fill out, and a number of different opportunities for credits and deductions. So, my financial checklist for January includes making an appointment with the accountant. I could still prepare my own taxes, with the help of tax prep software, but the hassle and time involved really isn't worth. Instead, I pay a tax preparer. If you have complex and time-consuming taxes, you might consider it.
