Last week we looked at how to protect yourself from identity theft. But it is possible that your identity will be stolen no matter what you do. Here is what you should do when your identity is stolen.

I have the Identity Theft Shield from Pre Paid Legal protecting everyone in my family for just $9 a month.  If anything goes wrong, I have help getting things straightened out.  It's great peace of mind!
BTW Pre Paid Legal also offers legal protection for all members of your family for less then a cup of coffee a day.  Things like looking over contracts for you, writing letters or calling on your behalf, it's all just a phonecall away.  It makes me feel better knowing that if something is/goes wrong that I have professional help available 24/7.
My best tip:  Shred everything like credit card offers that you don't care to have, bills, statements etc. and DO NOT have your outgoing mail like bill payments go into the mailbox by the street or your frontdoor.  Instead bring them yourself to the post office directly!
In these tuff financial times, we need o do all that we can to protect ourselfes.
