Recently, one of our Twitter followers @SassyBrunette05 thanked us for following her and made a statement that got me thinking.  She said, "Hope you ladies think 11 year olds with facebooks is ridiculous also!!!"  And, just by chance, I know an 11 year old boy who has a Facebook account. I remember when I discovered this boy had an account, thinking he seemed awfully young to have a Facebook account... but didn't think any more about it until seeing @SassyBrunette05's tweet in our Twitter stream.

To answer the question - Yes!  I do feel 11 is too young.  I do however, think it depends on the child.  An eleven year old could be very mature and responsible for his age.  I guess knowing of all the dangers that lurk online for young kids, it makes me very cautious.  I'm very glad that my son is seven and I have a few years (hopefully) before I have to worry about it.

But times have changed and most middle school kids have their own cell phones and texting is commonplace.  So maybe it's common for 11 year olds do have Facebook and Myspace accounts.  We would love to hear your take on this topic - At what age would (did) you let your kids have a Facebook account?
