Stacie - Yes.   I keep everything too.  And I will probably do the same thing this year, since it's officially "big boy" school.  

I realize that I do have to start picking and choosing certain things.  Because it is getting a bit out of control.

I to would like some tips on how to make a keepsake out of all the artwork and projects, etc. that we've accumulated.

I used to save all the artwork of my first two children. I learned after becoming a blended family of six children that it was overwhelming. Now, I save the ones that make me laugh, ones that really touched me, or ones that I know they would enjoy seeing when they become adults themselves. I save it my selected peices in one big box. With a family the size of mine, I would go scrapbook crazy. For a family with a few kids, I strongly advise getting with the children and choosing what is best for a scrapbook, maybe making an art project out of their art pieces as well.

@Jennifer - making an art project with several pieces would be a great idea.  Someone on Twitter today suggested using those big art folders to hold their work, as well.

OK, I can't save every piece of artwork- my house would have no room for us in it!  A friends told me to save the ones that were significant.  What does this mean?  If it does not look like all the kids pasted the same cut-out tree on the same cut out island, etc.  When pain is used, I save it because it is original.  I'd say I keep 1/4 of what comes home.  Remember, my kids are in 4th and 7th grades this year.  I keep all psinted flower pots (I have quite a collection) and anything to hold pencils, pens, sharpies in .  And I save every creative writing piece they have ever written.  I do this because my mom (the anti-packrat) saved only our school pictures and our report cards, and i wish she had saved my little books I wrote when I was in like 2nd grade.

Cindy - I agree with the creative writing pieces.  I'll never throw any of those away.  And you're right, there comes a time when you just have to pick and choose.

I save lots of artwork but it was starting to take over my storage space. Now I take pictures of all of my kid's prized art that they make at school and they seem to be happy with that (and it takes up less space!!).  I also use some of their art that's on 8 1/2 X 11 paper in my binder for recipes.  I paste my recipes on the backs of the artwork so I can then enjoy their designs as I am paging through looking for dishes to cook for dinner!

I just hope to have understood this the way it was meant
