I've heard moms refer to their little boy's penis as their "little buddy" and "Jr" and little girl's vaginas as "kitty cats".  And before I had my son, I said I would never use cute nicknames in place of the anatomically correct names. 

Yet, I do.  My son knows he has a penis... and about fifty percent of the time, he refers to it as his penis (and he knows that girls have vaginas).  However, we also refer to his penis as his "Pee Tom".  Our first visit to the pediatrician after I brought him home from the hospital, our nurse referred to his penis as his Pee Tom.  And it stuck.  I'd never heard it referred to as this, but liked it.
